Howdy there, folks! Thank you so much for visiting my little corner of the blogosphere!
I’m a WAHM (work at home mom) with three children (one tween and two teens), a hubby of sixteen years, and the sweetest dog on the planet who weighs in at a measly 120 pounds! He is our baby!
We live in Alabama, in the foothills of the Appalachians. It is very beautiful out here, and very soothing to our souls, as all five of us really love nature and the outdoors. It is nice to be in a rural area for the first time in my life. We recently moved out here from Dallas, TX and although I dearly miss my folks there, I do not miss all the concrete and pollution.
I’ve been working at home, online, for about five years now. I’ve tried a little bit of just about everything.
The thing that I have been doing for the longest time is sending personalized letters to children encouraging them to read. I love books so much, and I want all children to love them, too! Along with the letters, the children also receive an easy-to-do craft and a surprise, like stickers. That is my sweet little business, My Very Own Mail. It is my online baby.
The thing that I’ve been doing most successfully is blogging for money. And I love it so much, because, it has really gotten me writing. Along with reading, I also love writing. I’m a grammar nerd. I used to love to diagramming sentences in school. I don’t know that I would be that good at it now, though.
And I’ve done lots of stuff in, around, and in between those two. Some good, some bad, some major time-wasters, some major money-wasters…and some that are pretty good, but, so far - just aren’t enough to pay bills. (Yes, I know that was a terrible sentence for a grammar nerd!)
The jobs that I’ve held outside the home were usually receptionist, general office help, and child care. I was once the manager of a drop-in daycare center. I was so proud of myself for becoming a manager. I had to quit, though, because, I was pregnant with my third child, and the pregnancy was rather painful. After she was born, I ran a daycare in our home. I love munchkins! Although completely exhausting, they are a blast! These older ones - I’m not really sure what to do with - I defer to my husband on a lot of their issues. I figure that is okay, though, because, he is rather clueless with munchkins. I see it as a ‘passing of the torch’, really. ![]()
