I know, it's like it's own world, the internet - with towns, cities, neighborhoods!! I guess just like with the earth - we forget how big it really is!

I do think they overlap, though, and sometimes in ways I'd never expect! I'll run into someone in 'another neighborhood' - that I never expected to see them in - it's such an odd and funny feeling - like running into your teacher in the grocery store! Ha!

The internet, and even the blogosphere, is actually very segmented. I tend to read blogs on a few specific topics: the environment, writing, personal development, and entrepreneurship. Each of these areas has its own community with major and minor players, and they don't really overlap at all. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our little section of the internet that we forget there are thousands of other topics out there. If my interests included automobiles or collecting '80s toys, I have no doubt there would be a whole new corner of the internet for me to explore!

I totally agree that we can learn a lot from each other and I am thoroughly enjoying the melding of the worlds - men and women, WAHM and internet marketer! About five years ago, I had so much fun dabbling in both worlds, but, to see them come together as they have has been really cool!

Lisa, I think you're right in that there are so many different corners and areas of the Interweb that many of us can likely surf for months and never once cross paths. Naturally the sites you visit and the experiences you have influence your thoughts on things such as male/female dominated markets among many others.

I've mentioned a few times on Dad Balance how there seem to be many more books written for women trying to balance work and family than there are for men. However, women can make the same statement about many other topics. It all depends on your perspective and interests.

But I really like your distinction of the WAHP community, as I believe much of the information on working from home can be of benefit whether you are a WAHM or WAHD. Not only that but I believe that WAHD's can learn a great deal from WAHM's and vice versa.

You silly thing - that's exactly the thought I had after I typed it! Haha! I thought maybe I should qualify it, but, then I decided to let it go! :D

That is interesting about the male/female dominance thing - I think maybe we don't realize how segmented the internet really is - like we think we're all visiting the same 'neighborhoods' all the time, you know? When really - I could spend my whole day going places online you'd never even heard of, and vice versa. And maybe that is some of it, too!

Now get your mind out of the gutter, missy! ;)
